Small effort, big impact: Spreading joy this festive season

If you’re not celebrating Christmas, this week can be an interesting one to navigate…

One thing you can always count on, is festive cheer. Here are a few ideas for spreading some joy in your office, house or just for your own benefit!

1. Kind gestures

  • Compliment someone sincerely on something specific, like their effort, kindness, or style.

  • Perform small acts of kindness, like holding the door open, paying for someone’s coffee, or leaving a positive note for a colleague or friend.

  • Offer help when you notice someone struggling, whether it’s carrying groceries or lending an ear.

2. Share your time and attention

  • Spend quality time with someone who is having a stressful time, outside of the office.
This could be as simple as offering to walk with them to the station, or grabbing lunch from the supermarket together.

  • Listen actively and show genuine interest in what someone is saying. This can make them feel valued and understood.

  • Organise or suggest fun activities, like a game night, walk in the park, or a shared meal, to create joyful moments.

3. A little goes a long way

  • Try a smile once in while - worst case scenario is they don’t smile back, best scare scenario, you brighten someone’s day

  • Celebrate the small wins - it doesn’t have to be life’s big movements that get all the limelight!

  • Work is important, but so is happiness. Just asking how someone is can be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Small efforts make a big impact, so whether you’re doing it for yourself or others, spread some joy this festive season!
