Arts Everywhere Fund: An opportunity for more accountancy and finance jobs in the UK arts sector
The UK Government has announced an investment into the arts, which can provide a huge opportunity for accountancy and finance professionals, looking for a role in the sector.
"This funding will make a lasting impact, providing much-needed stability for the arts sector and opening doors for future talent", says Emma Kitson- an expert from our Not-for-Profit team.
The recently announced £270 million Arts Everywhere Fund is poised to positively impact recruitment in the arts sector through several key initiatives:
Job Creation and Protection: By allocating substantial funds to arts venues, museums, libraries, and heritage buildings, the fund aims to safeguard existing jobs and generate new employment opportunities across the cultural sector. This investment is expected to bolster local economies and enhance the resilience of cultural institutions.
Infrastructure Investment: A significant portion of the fund is dedicated to urgent building works and infrastructure upgrades, including £85 million earmarked for capital projects at arts venues such as theatres and performing arts centres. These improvements not only ensure the safety and functionality of these spaces but also make them more attractive workplaces, thereby aiding in the recruitment and retention of talent.
Support for Civic Museums: The introduction of a £20 million Museum Renewal Fund is designed to help civic museums maintain operations, protect jobs, and continue serving their communities. By stabilizing these institutions, the fund ensures that employment opportunities within them remain secure, making the sector more appealing to potential recruits.
Enhancing Cultural Education: An allocation of £3.2 million is designated for cultural education programs, aiming to break down barriers for young people to learn creative skills. This investment in education fosters a pipeline of skilled individuals ready to enter the arts workforce, thereby enriching the talent pool available for recruitment.
“Hundreds of arts venues, museums, libraries and heritage buildings will receive a share of the Arts Everywhere Fund from the government, supporting jobs and creating opportunities for young people to learn creative skills while helping to boost people’s sense of pride in where they live”, says the Government.
"It's refreshing to see the arts sector being prioritised, as it’s often overlooked despite its vital cultural and economic contributions”, adds Emma. “This support will go a long way in safeguarding jobs, enhancing institutions, and creating lasting opportunities for future talent."
By addressing critical infrastructure needs, supporting operational sustainability, and investing in education, the Arts Everywhere Fund creates a more robust and attractive environment for both current and prospective professionals in the arts sector.
